WE PLAY FOR IMPACT

ChildFund Rugby is World Rugby’s global Social Impact Partner, a multi-year partnership committed to reaching 500,000 young people worldwide by 2030.

Together, World Rugby and ChildFund Rugby are harnessing the power of rugby as a vehicle for positive social change, transforming the lives of children and young people across the globe.

OUR IMPACT AMBITION – GRASSROOTS TO GLOBAL

A key part of World Rugby and ChildFund Rugby’s global mission to unite and uplift female leaders in rugby ahead of the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025, the Grassroots to Global Series is designed to accelerate the global development of women’s rugby.

Learn More

Together, we will support more than 30 National Governing Bodies to organise national community leadership forums. These national forums will lead into a global forum held during the opening week of Rugby World Cup 2025. During this event, female leaders in rugby will:

  • Build leadership and coaching skills
  • Share experiences and learn from each other
  • Develop and pitch new project ideas to help bring more women into community coaching and keep them involved in the game

SOCIAL IMPACT POWERED BY RUGBY

ChildFund Rugby harnesses the power of rugby to drive positive social impact.

Our goal is to empower youth, strengthen local systems, and help partners use sport as a force for good.

Through integrated rugby and life skills learning, young people from vulnerable communities are equipped to:

  • Overcome challenges
  • Inspire positive social change
  • Take active leadership roles within their communities.

Lakapi Samoa National Development Manager & former Grassroots to Global Delegate

I want to see more women stepping into coaching roles, leading our national teams, and taking a place in decision-making rooms. When women take on leadership roles in rugby, they bring fresh perspectives, advocate for inclusivity, and challenge outdated norms.

Our Work In Action

Since 2015, we have been working with partners to use rugby as a tool to engage young people around the world.

Since 2015

  • 36 countries reached
  • 82,000+ player registrations (56% girls)
  • 3,100+ coach accreditations (56% female)
  • 82,000+ rugby and life skills sessions delivered
